The Challenge
Galway County Council engaged Vault365’s Irish partner Paradyn to review their existing backup solution and ensure it aligned with industry standards and meet with Galway County Council’s corporate policy regarding data recovery objectives. The review highlighted that the current solution only delivered two copies of data (includes infrastructure copy) and one data copy, which posed a risk to the business i.e. only the 2-1 of the best practice 3-2-1-1-0 backup rule was being met!
The Solution
Vault365 together with Paradyn designed and proposed a backup solution that delivers modern Data Protection and meets the 3-2-1-1-0 industry standard to securely harden the Galway County Council backup environment. Multiple storage repositories were employed for added resiliency with flexible recovery options in addition to utilisation of different repository file systems to add another security layer that now combats ransomware infections and spread.Vault365 then introduced immutability using off-site BaaS using object lock feature to protect against ransomware as well as recovery from a Disaster. Vault365 now monitor and detect with real-time active analytics for the customer.
Conclusion
With the implementation of the 3-2-1-1-0 backup rule standard together with immutable data in cloud storage, Galway County Council now have peace of mind and confidence that their data is securely protected and easily recovered, not to mention the speed at which backup and restore jobs now complete. The customer also now has the reassurance that their off-site backups are fully monitored and managed by the expert team at Vault365.
